The Gang Intervention & Exiting Team provides support to high-risk individuals who are engaged in gang-related activities, including drug trafficking, and wish to exit gang life.

The Gang Exiting & Intervention Team provides support to high-risk individuals who are engaged in gang-related activities, including drug trafficking, and wish to exit gang life.

The GIET conducts outreach and intervention strategies to empower those involved in gang life to exit.

CFSEU-BC’s Gang Intervention and Exiting Team provides support to high-risk individuals who are engaged in gang-related activities, including drug trafficking, and wish to exit gang life.

Operating in BC’s Lower Mainland, the GIET supports individuals over the age of 13 who are willing and committed to long-term positive, achieving positive long-term goals.

The GIET also conducts outreach and intervention strategies to empower those involved in gang life to exit.

Our focus is not on arresting you but helping you to safely exit gang life. If you committed a crime in the presence of our officers or case managers then you could be arrested. If you had an outstanding arrest warrant, then you could be arrested.

We do not take reports of crimes being committed nor do we investigate crimes. If you needed to report a crime, we would direct you to the appropriate police authority who could assist you.

Our team works with anyone over the age of 13 in the Lower Mainland who wants to exit gang life.

Participation in the program is voluntary and we will not ask you any specific details about your criminal history. If you choose to participate in the program, we will not disclose that you are a program participant.

We do run your name through our police computer systems to learn more about your involvement in gangs and your criminal history, if you have one. We expect that our clients are coming to us for help to leave their criminal lifestyle in the past. We are here to provide support and resources in an empathetic and non-judgmental way to help you safely leave gang life behind.

Will I be Arrested?

Do I have to Provide Information about Crimes in order to get help?

No, we do not ever want any information about crimes from you. We are here to work with you and provide support and resources to help you safely and successfully exit gang life.
